FLOOR PREPARATION
When considering the installation of a brand-new resin floor, the initial consideration should be the appropriate preparation method. The two primary methods of preparation are captive shot blasting and diamond grinding.
Captive Shot Blasting
Captive shot blasting is a rapid yet thorough method of adequately preparing the substrate to receive the resin topping. This process involves using a shot blasting machine with a centrifugal wheel that propels steel beads at a high velocity onto the existing floor surface. This effectively removes any weak or loose debris from the surface and creates a mechanical key for the subsequent resin floor topping.
Captive shot blasting is also ideal for demarcation line installation when a smaller shot blasting machine is utilized. This method eliminates any excess grinding marks from the floor, resulting in a much sharper finish.
Diamond Grinding
Diamond grinding, on the other hand, can be a more aggressive approach to surface preparation. Single-headed grinders are often employed to remove thicker resin systems or layers of adhesive, while triple-headed grinders can be used to lightly grind a surface in preparation for new coatings.
Our comprehensive range of in-house grinders provides clients with options for any situation. Both preparation methods are executed using the finest vacuum-enhanced techniques, ensuring all dust is extracted through heap filters.
Our team of expert installers is highly trained and proficient in all floor preparation techniques, having successfully laid hundreds of resin flooring systems on suitably prepared surfaces. This commitment to best practices not only ensures longevity but also enhances the adhesion of the new resin surface to the substrate.
